Kandagan Dance

The Kandagan dance describes Anjasmara, from the Damarwulan story, disguised as a warrior. Anjasmara sets out to look for her lover Damarwulan, who is reported to have been killed by Menakjingga from Blambangan. Because of her disguised she succeeds in finding Damarwulan, who in fact still alive. The report that Damarwulan had been killed, has come from her own brothers who desire to take Ratu Kencana Wungu as their wife.

The meaning of word "Kandagan" is a place; a box to put jeweleries and any other precious things. The dance is a collection of variety of beautiful movements. It is categorised as a rather strong female (princess) dance.
